Credits & billing
dev-doc is pay-as-you-go. Documentation runs are paid with credits; your balance is always visible in the top bar.
Your balance
The top bar shows credits with your current balance. It turns red when the balance is used up. New accounts start with a free starter balance.
What costs credits
- Analysis runs — imports and re-analyses. Credits are deducted as the AI writes your documentation, so the cost follows the size of the project.
- Codebase analysis, when included, explains every file and therefore costs the most.
- A complete re-analysis bills the whole project again; an incremental one only the missing work.
Reading, editing, approving, sharing and browsing demo projects are free.
Pricing models
Each project has a pricing model — the quality tier used for its runs (for example basic and premium). Higher tiers produce richer, more detailed documentation and cost more per run. Change it on the import page or on the project's card in My Projects. The tier list shows the rate of each tier.
Running out during a run
Every step checks your balance first. If credits run out, the run stops with the message You ran out of credits during the analysis. Top up, then re-analyse incrementally — the work already done is kept.
Top up
Buy credits on Purchase Credits. Credits are added as soon as the payment is confirmed, and they never expire.
